I have a hormone imbalance (according to blood test, elevated testosterone levels for a female).
Did some research and found that spearmint is similar to spironolactone , and can be used as a way to lower elevated androgen levels. I am not sure if it is working since it's only been a month, and I don't take it daily, probably every second/third day.
No noticeable changes yet, but will do a blood test in a couple months to see... Need to remember to update my review after.
But the capsule itself is easy to swallow with water, and doesn't have any weird taste. When you burp, it might taste a little minty though, but it's a fresh scent, like toothpaste.
Update:
I don't have a 'control' blood test result. I only have results from
1. When I started taking the supplement and,
2. When I stopped taking the supplement.
Results are:
1. Still showed elevated level of testosterone - higher than normal for a female despite taking this supplement every few days.
2. Then I stopped taking it because I thought it wasn't working. I did a blood test after not taking the supplement for a few months, results showed even higher level of testosterone than my first/initial blood test.
So it seems like the supplement lowers testosterone, but in my personal situation, I have abnormally high testosterone for female, and taking this every few days wasn't enough to bring my level to a 'normal' range. Haven't decided if I will continue taking this.
Note, in my case, I can't say that it really decreased my acne. I actually found my acne got worse, but it was also during a time of high stress, so it's hard to tell how effective this supplement was on acne.
